Best Places To Elope in Oregon

Best Places To Elope in Oregon – Oregon is a very popular state to elope to. It is a favourite for couples looking for an Adventure Elopement.

Known for its rugged qualities and great forest trails, you’d be crazy not to fall in love with this place. In our Best Places to Elope in Oregon post, we cover everything from coastal gems to forest hidden treasures. So let’s get stuck right in!

Oregon Coast

The Oregon Coast is well known for its wave action and rocky appeal. At over 580km long, the coastline has countless spots for an intimate ceremony. Rock formations rise up like icebergs in the sea adding so much excitement and anticipation as the waves smash against them.

Some rocks are small enough to climb up on which is a great idea for some cool photos. You can play (yes play!) on the sandy beach after your ceremony while your photographer captures it all. If you are feeling adventurous you can climb to a cliff-top and enjoy the view out to sea from the rugged edge. And of course take a dip in the sea if you’re brave enough!

The coastal city of Cannon Beach is a great place to use as your base. The city is only 4 miles long and is named after its popular sandy beach. A must see is the iconic Haystack Rock. A huge sea stack on Cannon Beach that stands 235 feet tall.

From here you can also travel to Ecola State Park where you’ll find forested trails leading to stunning ocean views. Another great location to check out is Cape Kiwanda State Natural Area in Pacific City. Cape Kiwanda is a sandy headland that sticks out from the mainland causing the waves to crash against its cliff faces with a lot of force.

Its golden sand is perfect for walking barefooted and the rocky cliffs are ideal for dramatic poses on a cliff edge. It’s safe to say the Oregon Coast offers much more than sand and sea.

Deschutes National Forest

Deschutes National forest is a haven for nature lovers! Its 1.8 million acres is covered in forested trails, mountain peaks and alpine lakes. East of the forest is the gorgeous city of Bend which is a perfect place to stay while visiting this area.

If you are looking for a great hike we recommend the Broken Top Crater Trailhead. It’s about a 3 mile hike and along the way you’ll reach the most beautiful turquoise lake. The glistening water just below the jagged peaks of the mountain make a stunning backdrop for your elopement.

Another trail we love is the Canyon Creek Meadows Loop. The popular trail takes you through beautiful meadows of blooming wildflowers and gushing waterfalls. To top it off you get a breath-taking view of one of Oregon’s most iconic mountains – Three Fingered Jack. A wonderfully romantic location for an intimate elopement wedding.

When we say red rock and deep river canyons, you might think of the southern states of America like Utah and Arizona. Surprisingly though, Smith Rock State Park is located in Central Oregon’s High Desert just north of the city of Bend.

It is considered the birthplace of rock climbing and attracts climbers from all over the world. So whether you are a rock climber (or just a lover of the red rock!) then a trip to Smith Rock is highly recommended. You won’t be disappointed as the scenery is breath-taking.

Crater Lake National Park

As the name suggests this park is known for its Lake, but not just any lake. This lake was formed after a volcano collapsed into itself forming a large crater – hence the name Crater Lake.

This beautiful part of Oregon is one of the snowiest places in the US. Although parts of the park close during the winter season, there are still parts you can access – Winter Wonderland Elopement anyone?

You may be surprised to know that Crater Lake is the deepest lake in the whole of the United States, pretty cool huh?! (It has something to do with it being a sleeping volcano).

The lake is also famous for its beautiful blue colour. The reason the water is so blue is because its only water source is melting snow or rainfall. There is an island near the western side of the lake called Wizard Island which you can access by boat if it takes your fancy too.

The great thing about this park is that you can drive all the way around it and enjoy the scenery from 17 different viewpoints. A perfect setting for an elopement day by the lakeside.

Columbia River Gorge

If waterfalls are your thing then we recommend Columbia River Gorge. There are so many waterfalls here that it is considered to have the highest concentration of waterfalls in America. Waterfalls are great for bringing drama, mood and a mystical vibe to your elopement and photography.

One waterfall we recommend for being easily accessible (and a stunning spot for your elopement) is Latourell Falls. There is a designated car park at the start of the trail and the view of the lower falls (which is where you want to be) is just a short walk from the car park.

You’ll be able to get as close as you want (depending on whether you wish to get wet!). Watch out, though, as the rocks will be slippery. At least get close enough to feel the mist against your skin – it’s so refreshing!

Mount Hood

Mount Hood Elopement | Best Places to Elope in Oregon

Mt Hood is Oregon’s tallest peak and the views you can enjoy from the various trails and lakes surrounding the mountain are incredible. So incredible that it features in our Best Places To Elope in the US post. Not everyone is looking to hike on their wedding day which is why this place is such a great option.

Lost Lake and Trillium Lake are both accessible by car and provide panoramic views over the water to the snowy peak of Mount Hood. It’s also perfect for inviting guests along to your outdoor ceremony.

Silver Falls State Park

East of Oregon’s capital city, Salem, lies Oregon’s largest state park. Silver Falls is a great park to elope in if you love waterfalls – Yes we know! …Another waterfall location BUT how can we not talk about more than one in a state that is known for its countless waterfalls! Plus we think you’ll fall in love with the Trail of Ten Falls.

This path takes you along past cascading waterfall after cascading waterfall. Choose to enjoy just one or all 10 if you wish! The great thing about an elopement is that you get to plan your day exactly how you want it. So don’t be afraid to follow your heart.

Willamette National Forest

This evergreen forested land stretches over 110 miles of west Oregon. Half of its landscape is covered in conifer tree forests. Home to some of the tallest peaks in Oregon, you’ll never be short of a mountain adventure around here.

With 1,500 miles of rivers and streams to discover, however, you soon realise there is so much more than the Cascade Mountain Range to explore. One hidden gem we love is Saw Mill Falls in the Opal Creek Wilderness. It’s a 3.5 mile hike to the location but there is so much to see along the way.

If you go the old mining route you can walk along the old mining tracks before coming across old mining cars and much more fascinating objects as you walk. Once you arrive at Saw Mill Falls you won’t believe your eyes as you gaze at the clear turquoise green pool of water pouring in from the river above. A little oasis to make your elopement that little more special.
