Winter Wedding Session in Banff National Park – It’s that time of year, where we step outside and feel that cold air nipping at our noses! The time when the frost starts to appear and the snowflakes start to fall. What’s not to love about this ‘to-be jolly’ season?
So, since we can’t get enough of the snow and the festivities winter brings, we are treating you to an incredible Winter Wonderland photo session…
Thuy and Howard travelled from Houston to Alberta to enjoy a beautiful wedding photo session before their big day. They fell in love with the Canadian Rocky Mountains and wanted to visit the stunning lakes in this region – great idea guys!
Lake Minnewanka
They picked 3 locations, Lake Minnewanka, Lake Louise and Emerald Lake. All of the lakes have great views over the water to the mountain peaks.
On the day, they started early for the best lighting conditions and were rewarded with a gorgeous sunrise. As the sun rose up from behind the mountains, the colours in the sky became more and more vibrant with strong reds and bright oranges taking over the sky.

Lake Minnewanka was covered in snow with parts of the lake frozen over which added to the magical feel of the place!
On their way to Emerald Lake, the groom (Howard) got a flat tire but that wasn’t going to stop them in their tracks as they decided to jump in Dorota and Marcin’s car (their photography duo) and carry on their journey.
They’d deal with the flat tire later!
When they reached Emerald Lake, they couldn’t believe their luck when the snowflakes started to fall all around them…
Emerald Lake
Howard and Thuy held each other close as they enjoyed the view and watched the snow falling over the lake.
The day was finished off by paying a visit to Lake Louise and for this, Howard and Thuy decided to make a costume change…
With their roots lying in Vietnam, these two changed into their traditional Vietnamese wedding outfits for a few shots and WOW aren’t we glad they did! Make sure to scroll down and check it out !
After a day of adventure and amazing views, Howard and Thuy realised they had to get back to their abandoned car before it got too late. Photography duo Dorota and Marcin drove them back and helped them out with the flat tire.
The funny thing is that Dorota and Marcin had never changed a tire before so when Howard showed them how, they realised something…
Dorota and Marcin said “Howard showed us how to change the flat tire, so we will remember this session forever because we learned something!”
Keep scrolling to see their winter adventure in full!
All the trees were sprinkled with a dusting of snow!
Onwards to Emerald Lake, where more snow started to fall…
